FileSync
A small, private tool that puts a family’s Google Drive in the Files app on Linux computers.
This is a private family tool.
It isn’t a product or a public service. If you don’t personally know the person who set FileSync up for you, please don’t use it.
What it does
- Shows each connected Google Drive as a folder in the Files app, so files can be opened, saved and dragged as usual.
- Runs entirely on your own computer. Files go directly between your computer and Google.
- Is installed and looked after by a family member, who sends updates you approve with one click.
Signing in with Google
When you connect a Google account, Google shows a sign-in page for “FileSync” and asks for permission to see, edit, create and delete your Google Drive files. FileSync needs this so your Drive can work like a normal folder. Google may show a “Google hasn’t verified this app” screen: that is expected for a private tool with only a few users.
You can disconnect at any time, in FileSync or at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
